Shop with a Cop 2014

Shop with a Copy 2014 was a HUGE success! 71 youth in our community came out on Saturday, December 6 to go Christmas shopping with a deputy. Not only did the selected children spend time with a deputy, but all in attendance had breakfast with the foundation board members and department staff. The group was greeted with a motorcade, lights and sirens, and Santa Claus! It was thanks to donors in our community that the foundation was able to fund this heartwarming event for youth in Ventura County. THANK YOU to all who donated and volunteered to make this event possible. Please visit our Facebook for photos of this wonderful holiday event.

Shop with a Cop is a program that allows underprivileged children to spend a fun morning with a Ventura County deputy sheriff. The event works to establish and build positive relationships between police officers and the children of the community. In past years, this program has been a success with the Camarillo Station and their community. This year the Ventura County Sheriff’s Foundation Community Board made it their project to include each of the five contract cities and the headquarters station.

The goal is to provide an enjoyable Christmas experience to children from Ventura County who otherwise may not celebrate Christmas due to family and/or financial hardships. The event provides interaction between children and sheriff’s deputies by matching these children with law enforcement officers to build positive bonds. Another goal for this event is to strengthen the relationship between law enforcement and the community.
